Samsung recalls more than 11 lakh electric ovens, fire risk found!

Samsung Electronics has recalled more than 11 lakh of its electric ovens. It is reported that the company has recalled these appliances in view of the risk of fire in the oven. Hundreds of incidents of fire in Samsung electric ovens have been recorded in America. Many people were injured in these incidents, even their pets were killed. Samsung Electronics America has recalled 11 lakh 20 thousand electric ovens. The company has recalled appliances sold between 2013 and 2024. This information has been given in the Samsung Newsroom blog. According to which some defect has been found in the knob of the electric oven. This knob can easily be turned on by humans and pets by mistake, due to which many incidents of fire have occurred there. The company has released a list of all the affected models here.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in the US has said that this faulty knob has been found to be the cause of about 250 incidents of fire. In 18 of these incidents, people have suffered serious property damage. That is, homes have suffered heavy damage. More than 40 people were injured in these, out of which 8 needed to be treated in the hospital. Even 7 pets were killed in these fire incidents.
The agency has found the faulty knob of the oven to be related to these incidents. This knob also turns on unintentionally, for which only a slight touch is enough. This defect is causing major incidents of fire.
Samsung has taken responsibility for this problem and is now recalling the ovens sold to fix it. The company is now providing knob locks and covers with them so that such incidents do not happen in the future. Also, for ovens with Wi-Fi features, the company has also included a notification feature which can be used through the SmartThings app. It sends an alert to the user when the oven is turned on.
