Recently, BSNL had informed that it has built more than 15,000 4G sites under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' campaign. The company plans to convert these sites to 5G later

Government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a new 4G and 5G ready over-the-air (OTA) and universal SIM (USIM) platform. Through this, BSNL aims to improve the quality and connectivity of its service under the central government's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" campaign. This will allow users to change their SIM card without location restrictions. This platform has been developed in collaboration with telecommunications development firm Pyro Holdings.

BSNL said in a post on social media platform X that this platform will improve its telecommunications service and network capability. It will provide faster network speed and better coverage. This will make it easier for users to change number portability and SIM. This platform will support both 4G and 5G networks in the country. BSNL plans to start 4G service across the country by March next year. The company's 5G network will be introduced six to eight months after this.

Recently BSNL had said that it has created more than 15,000 4G sites under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' campaign. The company plans to convert these sites to 5G later. Earlier, the Telecom Department had shared the image of BSNL's 5G SIM card on X. This indicated preparations for the launch of BSNL's 5G service with indigenous technology. Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has also tested its 5G enabled phone call.

The number of BSNL subscribers has increased in the last few months. The company's indigenous 4G network is ready. Work is being done to convert this network to 5G. Scindia had said that under 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', a 4G network using indigenous technology is ready and in a few months its service will be available across the country through BSNL. He said, "When Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel launched 4G networks, many people asked why not BSNL? It was the Prime Minister's resolve that if we have to develop the network of the government telecom company, then we will not use equipment from China or any other country." It was decided that an indigenous technology would be developed.
