Jio completes 8 years

Private telecom company Reliance Jio is celebrating the 8th anniversary of its launch on 5 September 2024. According to telecom regulatory TRAI, before the launch of Jio, every Indian customer used to use only 410MB of data in a month. But now the data consumption figure on Jio's network alone has increased by more than 73 times to 30.3GB per customer per month. This means that now every customer is using more than 1GB of data daily. Due to the high consumption of Jio users, the data consumption figure of the industry has also increased, now users in the telecom sector are using about 25GB of data every month.

When Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani launched Jio 8 years ago, today the company is recognized as the top Indian telecom company. Jio's customer base had grown to 49 crores with 13 crore 5G customers. Today Jio network is the world's largest mobile traffic data network. 8 percent of the world's mobile data traffic runs on Jio network. Jio users consume 148.5 billion GB of data. Which is 60% of the total data consumption of the country. Due to Jio, India has moved from 155th to first place in terms of data consumption.

Reliance Jio's record in 4G technology and speed has been excellent. Now the company's big plans are also coming out regarding 5G. The company is becoming expert in technologies like AI for all, connected drones, connected ambulances-hospitals, connected farms-barns, connected schools-colleges, e-commerce ease, entertainment at incredible speed, robotics, cloud PC, virtual things with immersive technology.

After the arrival of Jio, the cost of owning a mobile has reduced due to free calling. India is also one of the cheapest data markets in the world. The backbone of the digital economy has become strong due to data being cheaper. We have also left behind developed and super power countries in online transactions. E-commerce has got a new life. Shopping, buying tickets, entertainment and banking have all become easy from home.
